Green Day are an integral part of the California punk scene. Childhood friends Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Mike Dirnt (bass) formed their first band, Sweet Children, in Rodeo, California when they were 14 years old. By 1989, the group had added drummer Tre Cool and changed their name to Green Day. Throughout the early 1990's, Green Day continued to cultivate a cult following. "Dookie", Green Day's major label debut, was released in the spring of 1994 and it became a major hit, the second single "Basket Case", spending five weeks on the top of the American modern rock charts. "Dookie" also won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance of 1994. One of the stalwarts of the punk scene and still one of the most popular bands around!!
Green Day have been confirmed as The First Band to play at Wembley Stadium in 2010 and its on a Summer's SATURDAY NIGHT (No School The Next Day!)
