Daniel Dubois will face Joe Joyce in a clash of undefeated British heavyweights on April 11 at the O2 Arena in London.
Despite having had vastly different amounts of amateur experience, the pair are both in the fledgling stages of their professional careers. Dubois, 22, has taken the division by storm in his first couple of years as a professional, racking up a record of 14-0 (13 KOs). Last year, Dubois fought five times with five knockouts – the most impressive being against Nathan Gorman to claim the British title.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Joyce won Olympic silver as an amateur and himself has started to notch impressive wins on the pro circuit with a record of 10-0 (9 KOs). Joyce had three fights in 2019, stopping Bermane Stiverne and Alexander Ustinov before outpointing solid contender Bryant Jennings.
Dubois declared: “This will be the fight that announces me to the world. “I think I’m better than Joe in every department. Better jab, movement, more power. The only thing Joe has over me is experience. This will be the most devastating performance of my career.” In reply Joyce said: “This is a massive fight there’s no denying that there’s a lot on the line on both sides but experience is something you can’t buy and I’ve got tonnes of it and I believe it’ll play a huge factor in this fight.”
Warren promotes both boxers and is delighted to deliver this domestic dust-up. “People always talks about wanting the best to fight the best,” he said. “Well, on February 22 we have the No.1 and No.2 heavyweights in the world settling a score in Las Vegas, then in April we have the two best up and coming heavyweights in the world putting it on the line at the O2 Arena.
